Corporate Social Responsibilty

SSNIT's Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

SSNIT recognises its responsibility to operate in a way that benefits not just its contributors and beneficiaries, but also the society at large. This commitment is reflected in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Here's how SSNIT puts CSR into action:

Pensioner support initiatives:

SSNIT demonstrates its commitment to pensioners through a number of interventions. Our recurrent investment in the Pensioners Medical Scheme, which allows members access quality healthcare, is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the wellbeing of pensioners.

The Trust continues to provide free office space to host regional and district offices of the National Pensioners Association across the country while supporting them to build offices and centres in places where we are unable to host them. A Toyota Hilux Pickup vehicle has been donated to the Association to ease their transportation challenges.

The Henry Dei Pensioners Recreational Centre is the first of its kind in the country, and it’s a multifunctional centre constructed by SSNIT to provide a safe, convenient and comfortable leisure centre for pensioners to meet and socialize. This, we believe contributes significantly to the quality of life of pensioners.

Social Welfare:

The Trust engages in social welfare within communities. This is evident in the support for the development of an ultramodern children and mobile library.
In the past, SSNIT has also supported the development of health centres, markets, schools and several police posts in the capital and underserved rural areas.

Community Engagement:

SSNIT engages in socially targeted investments. These investments focus on social development which partly yield some financial returns. Development of an industrial park (GICEL), Trust Sports Emporium, abattoirs and affordable mass transportation are examples of such investments. These interventions promote stable communities and socioeconomic development of the country.

Support for Self-Employed Persons:

SSNIT provides a platform for registered self-employed individuals to showcase their products at exhibitions and fairs. The Trust actively participates in events organised by self-employed groups.

Support for Self-Employed Persons:

SSNIT is dedicated to empowering young minds and preparing them for a financially secure future through these initiatives:

1. Building the Base: To equip young minds comprehend social security, SSNIT partnered the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to develop Supplementary Readers and accompanying Teacher Guides for junior and senior high school students (JHS/SHS). These resources aim to spark early interest and engagement with the concept of social security.

2. Connecting with SSNIT: SSNIT recognises the need to educate tertiary students about their social security rights and prepare them to take an interest in their retirement planning, even before they start their careers. SSNIT Infoshop, an initiative to equip these next generation of workers has impacted about 11,000 students.

3. Experience SSNIT gives learners a firsthand look at how SSNIT works and the importance of social security. Corporate tours are organised for students  and other groups to give them detailed insights into the operations of the Trust.

4. To promote continuous learning, the Trust has built a state-of-the-art children and mobile library.

Overall, SSNIT’s CSR efforts demonstrates its commitment to its key stakeholder community in Ghana.
